SEASONS WORKSHOP

Help your young students learn about the seasons the hands-on way. In this workshop students will build and share what they know about the current season; leading to a discussion on changes in weather and important seasonal activities and events.

SPINNING TOPS WORKSHOP

In this exciting 30 minute workshop students build LEGO spinning tops, collect data on whose spinning top spins the longest, while also learning about the forces that affect their tops performance.

Gears, gears, gears! In this workshop students will build a series of models and experiment with gears exploring the difference between drive vs. driven gears, clockwise vs. counter clockwise, and discovering the concepts of effort and force

What a Great Experience!

In this workshop students will recount an experience they had, literally building their characters, setting, and plot using LEGO elements. They will also write about their experience using their model as a visual referencing tool and share their story with others.

Merry-Go-Round Workshop

This workshop provides a fun, hand-on way to get students excited about engineering, design, and mathematics. Students build a LEGO merry-go-round to explore gear ratios then experiment with gear trains to see which combination enables their ride to spin the fastest.

Cities of the Future

Calling all Teachers in the DFW Metroplex, you can win a FREE field trip for your grade!

Teachers are encouraged to challenge their students to put on their thinking caps and get creative for a chance to win a FREE field trip for their entire grade level! 

 

  • Classes must work together to design what they think their city will look like in 200 years. Collaborate as a class to draw your ideas then submit with a description in written or video form.
  • Projects should be submitted to DFW.sales@merlinentertainments.biz with the subject titled “ Teacher name – School – Cities of the Future”
  • Winning class will receive a free field trip for their entire grade and a free workshop for their class to build their city of the future with the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Master Model Builder. Builds will be placed in the DFW MINILAND for display.

Two classes will win. One winner from selected grade levels.  ( K- 2nd, and 3rd – 5th).

 

Important Dates

  • Classes may begin submitting their projects September 10, 2018
  • The contest will close November 2, 2018
  • The winning class will be announced November 16, 2018
  • The field trip must take place between January 21, 2019 to May 31 

(Black out dates include: April 9, April 10, May 13, and May 14)
